Today Is the Day to Support Local Media

Every day, Chicago’s local media amplify our communities’ voices: Black and Brown voices, immigrant voices, LGBTQ+ voices, workers’ voices, and more. Most are run by small, dedicated teams, sometimes made up of just one or two staff members supported by dedicated volunteers.  But no matter our size, we produce complex investigative reports. We uplift local reporters and filmmakers. We bring people community-centered news every single day. And we dedicate ourselves to reshaping narratives, filling information gaps, and producing news that connects communities throughout our city.

Third Coast Review is one of nearly 40 independent Chicago-area media outlets, members of the Chicago Independent Media Alliance (CIMA), joining forces for our third annual fundraising campaign. It kicks off today.nder the slogan #WeAmplifyChicagoVoices, our diverse and eclectic media group will conduct a two-week campaign October 3–17.

Today through October 17, you can directly support the work of nearly 40 of these local outlets as part of the third annual Chicago Independent Media Alliance joint media fundraiser.

Try to donate today or tomorrow (October 3-4) because we have a double-match for these first two days on gifts donated to individual outlets like Third Coast Review. As always, you can donate to all 40 media with one gift, but those gifts are not matched. Only the gifts to individual media—to Third Coast Review, Chirp Radio or South Side Weekly, for instance—will be matched. The double match means that if you make a generous gift of, say, $100, the foundation match will add another $200, making your gift worth $300 on these first two days of the campaign. Beginning October 5, funds will be matched (doubling your gift) until matching funds run out.
