BLOOMFIELD TWP (WWJ) -- Bloomfield Township police are investigating a deadly, high-speed crash where the driver of a pickup truck smashed into a tree.

Monday morning just before 6 a.m., Bloomfield Twp police were dispatched to Kensington Rd at Wattles Rd, where the fatal wreck had taken place.

Officers, along with fire rescue, closed off Kensington Rd until the incident could be thoroughly investigated and the crash cleared.

The Oakland County Special Accident Reconstruction Team was also out, working to determine the cause of the accident.

According to WWJ's Charlie Langton, who reported live from the scene, preliminary findings suggest the driver was headed west on Wattles, then drove through a stop sign at Kensington, before colliding with the tree.

Langton also reported that first responders believed the driver to be a man, but the impact was so severe that it could not officially be determined at the time.

It is not clear whether or not the driver attempted to brake. At this time, police are not sure if alcohol or drugs were involved.
