The lone victim of a fatal house fire last week in Endicott was the homeowner, according to village police.

Endicott police identified the victim of the Sept. 28 fire as June Kimble. The Broome County Coroner’s Office determined Kimble's cause of death was smoke inhalation.

Firefighters were dispatched shortly before 8:30 a.m. Sept. 28 to a residence at 100 Taylor Ave. for a reported house fire.

There was smoke showing on the second floor of the residence when units arrived on the scene, according to Fire Chief Joseph Griswold.

Firefighters discovered Kimble's body in a second-floor bedroom of the single-family home, Griswold said.

She was the only occupant of the house at the time of the fire, he said.

Specific causes of the fire remain under investigation. However, investigators have determined the fire was not the result of a criminal act or suspicious in nature, police said.
