Jack Gladfelter sets a new Roughrider 5K record

TACOMA — It was a record setting day Saturday for the Roughrider boys Cross country team as Jack Gladfelter set a new school record in the 5K run with a time of 15:35. The Roughriders competed against 80 other schools in Tacoma. Gladfelter’s time was the fastest at the meet and was the fastest time this year for any class 2A runner. Senior Max Baeder finished 21st with a season best time of 16:53. The Roughriders travel to Arlington on Saturday.

Another red-hot Roughrider team is Sally Coles’ swim team. The Roughriders blew Bremerton out of the water 118 – 43. The Roughriders have been so dominating they might want to swim out to the log boom and challenge the California Sea lions. Mackenzie Dubois qualified for her 3rd event at the State swim meet, this time in the 100 Free style. Other first place finishers were Brook St Luise, Harper McGuire, Danika Asgeirsson and Rachel Cooper. All 3 Relay teams finished in 3rd place.

Suddenly, the Sequim Wolves football team is making some serious noise playing their best game of the year Friday night, entertaining a large and energetic Homecoming crowd with an impressive 27-14 win over Kingston. The Wolves are now tied with Bremerton in the Olympic league with a 2-1 record. Wolves Junior QB Lars Wiker was voted the Firehouse Grill Player of the game. Speaking of Bremerton, the Knights bring a very good team to Civic Field Friday night for the Roughriders Homecoming game. The Knights 4-1 on the season are 2nd in offense in the league averaging 38 ppg. The Roughriders are struggling on offense scoring just 13 ppg. Kickoff is set for 6:30 pm and you can hear all the live action right here on KONP radio.

In NWAC soccer action, the #4th ranked Peninsula Pirate men’s soccer team knocked of Bellevue 3-1. Inching Hun, Pau Vivas Ayala and Fernando Taveras all had goals. The Pirates led the Northern Division with a 7-1-1 record and an overall record of 10-1-1. The #1 ranked Pirates women’s team knocked off Bellevue 1-0. Rylee Sims scored the Pirate goal. The Pirates led the Northern Division with an 4-0 record and have an overall record off 6-0-1.
