Man shot, killed at apartment complex in west Houston, police say

HOUSTON – Officers with the Houston Police Department are searching for a suspect that shot and killed a man at an apartment complex in west Houston Sunday.

HPD units responded to reports of a shooting at the Haven at Eldridge Apartment Complex located at 13115 Whittington Dr.

Officers said when they arrived at the scene, they located a 29-year-old man with multiple gunshot wounds dead in the outside stairway.

At this time, police said the motive for the shooting is unknown.

According to HPD, there were other people at the scene who knew the victim but at this time, investigators are still questioning them.

Some witnesses told officers they heard the gunshots, went outside, and found the victim. They attempted to provide aid before Houston Fire Department emergency officials arrived.

Witnesses said the suspect fled in a black Hyundai or Honda sedan. There is no suspect description or motive in the shooting at this time, HPD said.

Police said the victim was a resident of the apartment complex. An investigation is ongoing at this time.
