A new restaurant in Jefferson that has been open since July is officially having a ribbon cutting.

The Centennial is owned by an all female organization of Why Not Us. The Restaurateur is Sarah Ostrander, who leads the kitchen and was recently named to the 40 Women to Watch list from the Iowa Restaurant Association. Jefferson Matters: A Main Street and Chamber Community Interim Director Matt Wetrich says the revival of the restaurant has already made its presence known.

“You talk about one business impacting a lot of others. A lot of the downtown shops have told that they’re seen an uptick of (foot) traffic in their doors, since The Centennial’s been open. People are visiting to come eat, shop and play, even. Just having that restaurant downtown again has made a big difference.”

The ribbon cutting will take place tomorrow at 10am at 100 East State Street.
