BONDURANT, IA — A ranked Bondurant-Farrar team whipped Perry, 70-0, in a Class 4A District 5 meeting Friday.

The host Bluejays (5-1, 1-1) were hardly tested in opening a 49-0 lead at the intermission. Reserves, even down to freshmen, played the second half for B-F, in which the home team still managed a 21-0 differential to set the final score.

Perry (1-5, 0-2) head coach Bryce Pierce was impressed by the opposition.

“Bondurant-Farrar is a very physical football team with high energy,” Pierce said. “They were relentless in getting to the football.”

Perry produced only 40 yards passing and just 45 yards, on 23 carries, on the ground. On nearly every snap the B-F defensive line was in the Perry backfield almost as soon as a handoff was made, leaving the visiting Bluejay running backs nearly no chance to gain forward progress. The hosts finished the game with 11 tackles for a loss of yardage.

B-F led, 29-20, after one quarter and by 49-0 at the half. It was 56-0 after three frames en route to the final score.

Three quarterbacks combined for 239 passing yards and three touchdowns for the home team, with eight different players making receptions. The hosts amassed 222 rushing yards on 15 rushes, which created seven TDs.

Caleb Moore (8-166, 4 TDs) led the way for the B-F ball carriers.

B-F recovered two Perry fumbles and made one interception.

Geren Kenney was 2-6-1 for 40 yards in the air for Perry. He hit Holden Smith for a 43-yards connection and tossed a pass for Eric Lagos which resulted in a loss of three yards.

Juan Hernandez (16-30), Gavin Hegstrom (2-11), Sincere Mobbs (1-10) and Kenney (4, minus-6) accounted for the Perry rushing game.

Kenney and Hernandez both had five tackles, with Anthony Chavez and Hegstrom each recording four stops.

“I was proud of our kids, because even though the game got out of hand early we continued to fight and play with some pride,” Pierce said.

Ranked Norwalk (4-2, 1-1) awaits a visit from Perry Friday. Kick off will be at 7:30 p.m.
