‘God Loves You Tour’ stop in Rochester brings in 8,100 people

(ABC 6 News) – Franklin Graham’s ‘God Loves You Tour’ made its final stop in Rochester on Sunday.

8,100 people filled Soldier’s Field Park Sunday afternoon as a part of the six-city, one thousand-mile tour. Rochester concluded the fall tour, with previous stops in Pennsylvania, Ohio, Michigan, and Wisconsin.

An alternative event countering Graham’s conservative messaging was held at Zumbro Lutheran Church the same afternoon.

Graham’s tour stop included live performances by Grammy-nominated Newsboys, other guest artists, and a message from Franklin Graham, President, and CEO of Billy Graham Evangelistic Association.

“Well we were doing a tour through the Midwest and I thought ‘Why not Rochester?’ My father never preached here, of course, he preached in Minneapolis, but he never preached here so I thought let’s go to Rochester,” Graham said. “Of course, my father had a lot of work done here at the Mayo Clinic. I’ve had surgery at the Mayo Clinic. Love this town, love the doctors, nurses, great people.”

More than 110 churches in the area partnered with this event.

Graham said they don’t have any future events planned for Rochester yet.
