Guest Star Singer Spot Recordings

May I ask something about these, please?

Watching Robbie Williams this evening, I was wondering whether his spot was done live yesterday or whether it was recorded before the series and edited in.

I think that the group dances are pre-recorded and wondered whether guest spots were too.

Thank you!

I think they're usually done on the night its recorded. There was an audience for his dance and I don't remember there being a ticket event for performers.

I'm sure there has been pre-recorded ones before though

In addition to the above reply- as the series progresses, sometimes the gap between recording and broadcasting can lengthen to several weeks.

Thank you. He must have come on quite late in the evening, as I think that they start recording for Sunday at around 9.30 pm.

I'm sure that you are right about some singers recording In advance. I always apply for tickets, (never successfully) and think I once received an
e-mail for applications to see a guest pre-record, but can't remember who that was. It will have been quite some time ago.

    Thank you - I didn't know that.

I can see that being possible. Although you can see the audience vaguely during the spot, you would never know that they were actually there a few weeks earlier.

At the end you can see Anton applauding and wearing the jacket for the results. Likely it was recorded on Saturday or some very slick editing. As an aside I thought Lauren and Neil were superb.

Some artists I think pre-record to fit around live tours. I saw Barry Manilow live a few years ago (yes, and...?) ; I remember him announcing he was on Strictly that weekend but he was recording it on the Friday.

I recall reading Taylor Swift's performance in the 2019 final was done two weeks beforehand, although that's the only one where such a specific date was given.
