Adrien Broner evidently wants to throw his hat into the combat sports crossover space.

Shortly after MMA star Nate Diaz fought his last fight under the UFC—a fourth round submission of Tony Ferguson—and expressed his interest in getting into boxing, Broner, the embattled, multiple-division champion from Cincinnati, Ohio, called him out to a boxing match.

“@natediaz209you coming over to boxing I will give yo a$$ everything you looking for #LETSGETITAB,” Broner wrote in an Instagram post.

Broner’s declaration comes nearly two months after he pulled out of a scheduled Aug. 20 fight with Omar Figueroa in a junior welterweight contest in Hollywood, Florida. Figueroa ended up fighting late replacement Sergey Lipinets, who dominated Figueroa en route to stopping the veteran inside eight rounds. Broner, 33, cited mental health as his reason for forgoing what would have been his first fight since February 2021, a mildly controversial win over Jovanie Santiago.

"Just pray for me,” Broner said at the time. “I love the sport of boxing to[o] much to not give my all and I feel like I came up short before because my mind wasn't 100% there and I be dam[ned] if I make that mistake again.”

Broner (34-4-1, 24 KOs) isn’t the only one who wants to swap punches with Diaz in a regulated boxing ring. Jake Paul, the YouTuber-turned-enfant terrible of boxing, has repeatedly stated that he would be interested in fighting Diaz. Paul is scheduled to face MMA legend Anderson Silva Oct. 29 in Glendale, Arizona, on Showtime Pay-Per-View.

While Diaz was initially mum on naming opponents ahead of his fight with Ferugson, afterward he was not shy about tabbing Paul as a possible opponent.

“(Jake Paul) is for sure one of the options,” Diaz told iD Boxing. “He’s doing big stuff. He’s doing big things. He’s got a big fight ahead of him. If he wins that, I’m sure people will be really impressed by it. And if Anderson (Silva) does his thing on him, that’s impressive also. Now we’ve got a fight on his hands. I’m looking forward to it.”
