Beyoncé Means Business in Suiting & Boots for Solange Knolwes at the New York City Ballet Fall Fashion Gala 2022
Beyoncé suited up to support Solange Knowles in New York City. The musician attended the New York City Ballet’s 2022 Fall Fashion Gala on Wednesday night to support Knowles, who was honored at the event for the original score she created for the company — and is notably the second Black woman to do so.
Prior to arriving at the David H. Koch Theater for the occasion, Beyoncé posed in a collaged Instagram Reel in two suiting outfits, styled by KJ Moody. The first featured a black power-shouldered custom Mugler bodysuit, featuring high-waisted bottoms with a sharply lapeled top over sheer black tights. The second — which the “Renaissance” musician eventually wore to the Gala — was a custom Sergio Hudson suit, featuring a black blazer with a bright red lining and matching trousers, paired with a satin-lined overcoat. Both ensembles were worn with a dazzling diamond statement necklace by Lorraine Schwatz, as well as an angular set of sunglasses.
Completing Beyoncé’s ensemble was a set of calf-high black patent leather boots. The glossy set featured block heels totaling at least 4 inches in height, finished with short platform soles and lightly squared toes. The set gave the “Alien Superstar” singer a sharp height boost while allowing her ensemble to take center stage.
During the occasion, the singer also filmed videos and took photos with Knowles and their mother, Tina Lawson. For the occasion, Knowles wore a boxy navy blue suit and green stone earrings with black leather boots. Lawson similarly wore black, dressed in a sheer-paneled gown with sparkling chandelier earrings. Beyoncé also shared a second Instagram post congratulating Knowles for her accomplishment.
“My beloved sister, there are no words to express the pride and admiration I have for you,” the singer captioned the post. “You are a visionary and one of one. Congratulations on being the first African American woman to compose for the New York City Ballet. The piece you composed is phenomenal. I love you deep. Might I suggest you don’t f*** with my sis.”
Knowles initially shared the news that her score had been selected for the gala on Instagram in August. She wrote the original score for “Play Time,” which includes choreography by Gianna Reisen and costumes by Alejandro Gómez Paloma, designer of Palomo Spain. The ballet included a cast of 10 dancers dressed in head-to-toe pinstripes crafted from over 800,000 Swarovski crystals.
