  • Trump dubbed his "secret bathroom" just off the Oval Office the "Monica Room," according to a new book.
  • The book by NYT reporter Maggie Haberman said that Trump told guests he fully renovated his bathroom after Obama left.
  • Officials later confirmed that the claim wasn't true, and only the toilets were changed.

Former President Donald Trump dubbed his "secret bathroom" near the Oval Office the "Monica Room" — a dig at former President Bill Clinton — and would deceive guests by telling them had to he remodeled it after President Obama left, a book claims.

According to New York Times reporter Maggie Haberman's new book obtained by the Daily Mail, Trump would invite certain White House visitors into the bathroom for a peek, claiming that he remodeled the space, including the toilet.

"You understand what I'm talking about?" Trump told one visitor, per the book, which they took as a racist jab at Obama, the outlet reported.

"The statement was strange and vague and open to interpretation as to why he emphasized the changes, but the guest interpreted it to mean Trump did not want to use the same bathroom as his Black predecessor," the book said, according to the report.

Trump has had a strained relationship with the first Black president, from promoting a birther conspiracy that questioned his citizenship to vowing to eliminate Obamacare, calling it "lousy."

The book notes that officials at the time confirmed that a complete renovation of the bathroom did not happen, and only the toilet seat was swapped out, which is standard for when a new president comes into office, the Daily Mail reported.

"The most significant addition he made might have been the collection of hairsprays that some visitors took note of," Haberman's book said, per the report.

The book, titled  "Confidence Man: The Making of Donald Trump and the Breaking of America," also reveals other shocking moments from Trump, including when he told his biracial ex-girlfriend that she got her intelligence from her "white side" and the time he mistook a racially diverse group of Sen. Chuck Schumer and Rep. Nancy Pelosi's staff as waiters.

Last year, a report revealed that Ivanka Trump and Jared Kushner's secret service detail were not allowed to use the bathroom in their mansion and were forced to use port-a-potties.
