Fire Marshal Rules Punxsutawney House Fire Accidental

PUNXSUTAWNEY BOROUGH, Pa. (EYT) – The Pennsylvania State Fire Marshal has ruled the house fire in Punxsutawney to be accidental.

According to PSP Punxsutawney Crime Unit, around 1:58 p.m. on September 27, the Punxsutawney Fire Department was called to a structure fire at 702 Sutton Street, in Punxsutawney Borough.

The fire destroyed the two-story residence.

The Pennsylvania State Police Fire Marshal was requested to investigate the cause and origin of the fire.

The investigation concluded the fire was accidental.

The total amount of loss was reported to be $350,000.00.

According to a published article by WJACTV.com, crews from Punxsutawney, Reynoldsville, and Brookville were all dispatched to the scene.

Officials say the residents of the home were able to escape unharmed, and the Red Cross was called in to assist the family.

The victims are listed as a 54-year-old Punxsutawney man and a 51-year-old Punxsutawney woman.
