Alabama faithful shuddered when Bryce Young went down with an injury against Arkansas on Saturday, but the Crimson Tide were able to hold off the Razorbacks behind backup quarterback Jalen Milroe and running back Jahmyr Gibbs.

Still, Nick Saban and company would prefer Young on the field moving forward, but Paul Finebaum believes the Crimson Tide shouldn’t fear — at least not next week against Texas A&M. While weighing in on Young’s injury during Sunday’s Sportscenter, Finebaum took a shot at the Aggies in the process.

“Well it’s pretty high as you go two weeks ahead to Tennessee,” responded Finebaum, asked about his level of concern with Young’s injury. “But let’s be honest, next week against Texas A&M, that’s a cupcake the way things have been going with the Aggies lately. It’s just amazing to think about. That was the game of the year in college football this year before the season, and now it’s just literally an afterthought. But I think you have to be concerned. The backup [Jalen] Milroe looked very, very good, but Bryce Young is the best quarterback in the country. He does so many things.

“The disappointing thing for Nick Saban and Bill O’Brien, the offensive coordinator, is Alabama’s offense was just starting to percolate. Now they have to shift things for the next couple of weeks and it will be like watching the medical wire in the NFL to see what the deal is with Bryce. His doctors will get a lot of attention this week.”

Indisputably, Paul Finebaum has a level of concern with Bryce Young’s injury, but the SEC Network analyst doesn’t think Alabama will miss a beat against Texas A&M. Now, if Young can’t suit up for the Crimson Tide’s showdown with Tennessee in a couple weeks, there may be a problem.

Nick Saban adds more color on Bryce Young injury, explains why he did not re-enter Arkansas game

Moreover, the story of the day in college football came out of Fayetteville, with Alabama quarterback Bryce Young leaving the game with an injury. Thankfully, the Crimson Tide were able to hold on for a win over Arkansas and improve to 5-0 on the season. But they are still in the thick of an SEC schedule, with Texas A&M up next.

After the game, head coach Nick Saban provided some more color on Young’s injury, saying it’s an AC sprain. The quarterback will be “day-to-day” moving forward. Saban also explained why they decided to not put the reigning Heisman Trophy winner back into the game.

“Bryce has a little AC sprain in his shoulder,” Sarkisian said. “We’ll have to take it day-to-day. I think he’s okay. Doesn’t have a serious injury. We didn’t think he could go back in the game today because I didn’t think he had much steam on throwing the ball. He’s had these before and after a few days, he starts to respond pretty well. So, we’ll just have to see how it goes and play it day-to-day.”
