Hollyoaks spoilers follow.

Hollyoaks star Anya Lawrence has opened up about the turning point between her character Vicky and her villainous boyfriend Joseph.

Upcoming scenes will see Vicky doing the right thing by exposing Joseph's guilt in Saul's murder case, hopefully freeing her friend DeMarcus in the process.

In an interview with Inside Soap, Lawrence revealed what brought about Vicky's change of heart.

"I think deep down she knows that Joseph was the one responsible, because she knows him better than she gives herself credit for," explained Lawrence. "But she doesn't want to snitch on the person she supposedly loves."

Discussing why she has been scared to expose Joseph, the soap star revealed that Vicky is worried she will get in trouble for hiding the truth for son long and fears what her boyfriend might do.

"The main feeling above everything else is that she's scared of Joseph. If he's capable of doing that to someone he barely knows, imagine what he would do to her with the rage and the betrayal he would feel.

When asked why Vicky has finally decided to tell the truth, Lawrence said that her character can see a future in the village without her boyfriend.

"She sees a future for herself in the village, and it's a future without Joseph. She can't be with somebody who continues to hold her back. She doesn't like her life – and getting rid of Joseph is the change she needs to move forward."

Talking about the new scenes, Lawrence said that Vicky will arrange a meeting with Joseph to get her stolen phone back which has video evidence on it proving that he killed Saul, but the plan will put her in "huge danger".

"I was screaming at my script. Vicky knows what Joseph is capable of, and she knows he could do it again."

Hollyoaks streams first on All 4, with new episodes dropping each weekday morning. The show airs Mondays to Fridays at 6.30pm on Channel 4, and at 7pm on E4. Selected omnibus episodes are available via Amazon Prime Video.
