Posted October 1, 2022

— North Carolina FC found a late equalizer to salvage a point with a 1-1 draw against Union Omaha Saturday night at WakeMed Soccer Park. The result officially eliminates NCFC from USL1 playoff contention for the 2022 season with two matches remaining, including next Saturday, October 8, on Hispanic Heritage Night with a festival from 5:00 p.m. ET to 7:00 p.m. ET prior to kickoff against Chattanooga Redwolves SC.

Oalex Anderson struck the back of the net in the final minutes after a corner kick led to a scrum in the box. Anderson was falling backwards but able to get a toe to the ball to get the home side level. Union Omaha took the lead midway through the first half when a turnover gave Corey Hertzog a clean look at goal from straight away and he found corner netting to beat Will Pulisic.

This was the third straight home match in which NCFC earned at least a point. They will try to end their home season on a high note next Saturday in their final match at WakeMed Soccer Park in 2022.
