70-year-old man arrested for Parlier slaying

PARLIER, Calif. — Homicide detectives with the Fresno County Sheriff's Office arrested 70-year-old Edmundo Martinez of Parlier on Saturday on homicide charges.

Martinez was booked into the Fresno County Jail where his bail is at $1 million.

Before 8:00 o'clock Saturday morning, officers with the Parlier Police Department responded to reports of an injured individual at the Parlier Plaza Apartments at 640 S. Zediker Avenue in Parlier. When they arrived, officers found a man lying on the ground. He was later pronounced dead. Police have identified the man as 45-year-old Jose Palafox Jr. of Parlier.

Parlier police requested the assistance of homicide detectives with the Fresno County Sheriff's Office to handle the on-going investigation. Detectives along with members of the FCSO Crime Scene Unit responded to the scene and quickly began collecting evidence.

Later in their investigation, detectives contacted Edmundo Martinez and arrested him for the murder of Palafox Jr.
