Sam Pittman addresses KJ Jefferson's status, speaks on a tough loss to Alabama
Sam Pittman addressed the media following Arkansas’ 49-26 loss to No. 2 Alabama.
He noted Arkansas’ 3rd down struggles, KJ Jefferson and named a clear No. 2 quarterback moving forward. Arkansas is now 3-2 heading into a bounce-back game against Mississippi State.
Most importantly, Pittman noted why Jefferson did not return late in the game:
Sam Pittman just said KJ Jefferson “hit his head,” and that seems to be why he didn’t come back in.

Pittman also said he “didn’t know” where Jefferson was at as far as any specifics.
He wasn’t done harping on the quarterbacks either. He noted how Arkansas needs to be less one-dimensional and needs more production from the passing game moving forward if they are to beta teams such as Alabama.
Sam Pittman on Arkansas’ offense: “Right now, we’re one-dimensional. We’ve got to be able to throw and catch and protect…. We can’t just turn around and hand the ball off and beat really good teams.”

Pittman also named a No. 2 quarterback moving forward.
“He’s our No. 2 quarterback, so we put him in there.” – Sam Pittman, when I asked about the decision to go with Cade Fortin over Malik Hornsby

Here’s more from Pittman’s postgame presser:
“It’s very deflating. But that’s part of the game. It’s happening too often to us. We’ve got to figure out how to get off the field when we’re ahead with the sticks.”

Sam Pittman says he had originally called a fake field goal on the kick that made it 28-17 in the third quarter, but called it off because “the look wasn’t there.”
