THE CRASH HAPPENED AT AROUND 8 THIS MORNING ON OLD RIVER ROAD NEAR LEWIS NAIL ROAD. THE TOOMBS COUNTY SHERIFFS OFFICE SAYS - A 17 YEAR OLD AND 70 YEAR OLD WERE PRONOUNCED DEAD ON THE SCENE. WE'RE TOLD PRELIMINARY INFORMATION SUGGESTS THE 70 YEAR OLD MAY HAVE CROSS

You can access it by clicking here.Initial report: Two people are dead following a crash in Toombs County.At around 8 a.m. on Saturday, the Toombs County Sheriff's Office said 911 Dispatch received a call from a representative with smartphone app Life 360. The representative told them they had detected a crash and could not reach the person by phone.Moments later, TCSS said 911 dispatch received a second call from a bystander who said two cars had crashed in a head-on collision on Old River Road near Lewis Nail Road.When deputies arrived on the scene, they found a 17-year-old girl and 70-year-old Gail Gaines Meyer, of Uvalda, dead.According to TCSS, the 17-year-old was heading east, and Meyer was traveling west on Old River Road when the crash happened.Based on the preliminary information, TCSS said it appears Meyer's vehicle possibly crossed into the eastbound lane and hit the 17-year-old's vehicle head-on.The crash investigation has been turned over to Georgia State Patrol Post 18.
