Kosciusko County
Officers with the Kosciusko County Sheriff’s Office investigated the following accidents:
- 4:58 p.m. Friday, Sept. 30, West Levi Lee Road, west of West Edgewood Drive, Warsaw. Driver: David A. Rangel, 73, North Allen Lane, Warsaw. Rangel was found lying in a ditch near where his moped was by a passer-by. He said he couldn’t remember what happened and was taken to the hospital. Police believe that his moped was struck from behind by another vehicle. That caused it to run off the roadway and flip in the ditch. The accident is still under investigation. Damage: Up to $1,000.
- 4:11 p.m. Thursday, Sept. 29, West SR 25, west of South CR 900W, Warsaw. Drivers: Raven L. Hatfield, 22, West Eighth Street, Rochester; and James P. Gatewood, 39, South SR 25, Rochester. Hatfield said she didn’t see anyone coming and pulled out into the roadway, causing her and Gatewood’s vehicles to collide. Damage: Up to $50,000.
- 6:35 a.m. Thursday, Sept. 29, East Armstrong Road and North CR 200E, Warsaw. Drivers: Margaret M. Plank, 30, Clinic Court, Warsaw; and Luke E. Batdorff, 29, East Market Street, Warsaw. Plank’s vehicle hit Batdorff’s. Damage: Up to $25,000.
- 6:57 a.m. Wednesday, Sept. 28, East US 30, east of South SR 13, Warsaw. Drivers: Matthew G. Morris, 19, Spatz Avenue, Fort Wayne; Janice M. Lawrence, 56, Stonewall Run, Fort Wayne; and Heather R. Arter, 44, South CR 900W, Etna Green. Morris said he was checking his cellphone and dropped it. When he looked back up, he couldn’t avoid hitting Lawrence’s vehicle. Arter’s vehicle was also involved in the collision. Damage: Up to $10,000.
- 3:35 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 24, South SR 15, south of West CR 950S, Silver Lake. Drivers: Robyn A. Wagoner, 28, South Bourbon Street, Bourbon; and Robin A. McClanahan, 42, West CR 800N, Denver. McClanahan said she witnessed Wagoner’s vehicle cross the double-yellow center line on the roadway. McClanahan said she tried to avoid colliding with Wagoner’s vehicle, but was unable to. Wagoner was transported to the hospital due to complaining of pain. A passenger in Wagoner’s vehicle also complained of pain and was transported to the hospital. Damage: Up to $50,000.
Warsaw
Officers with the Warsaw Police Department investigated the following accidents:
- 11:14 a.m. Saturday, Oct. 1, US 30 west, of Old Road 30, Warsaw. Drivers: Hunter D. Lautt, 20, North CR 750W, Rochester; and Brandy L. Hamman, 44, South Waxwing Lane, Warsaw. Lautt’s brakes weren’t working. His vehicle hit Hamman’s. Damage: Up to $2,500.
- 2:09 p.m. Friday, Sept. 30, Shelden Street, south of Petro Drive, Warsaw. Drivers: Cecilia A. De Miller, 69, West Wayne Street, Fort Wayne; and Brooke M. Van Middendorp, 32, West Lake Street, Warsaw. Miller’s vehicle hit Van Middendorp’s. Damage: Up to $2,500.
- 2:07 p.m. Friday, Sept. 30, Zimmer Road and Zimmer Lane, Warsaw. Drivers: Jennifer Jimenez, 21, West CR 250S, Warsaw; and Stephanie Hardt, 75, South SR 25, Warsaw. Jimenez didn’t see Hardt’s vehicle and pulled out, hitting Hardt’s vehicle. Hardt complained of head pain and was taken to the hospital. Damage: Up to $25,000.
- 1:45 p.m. Wednesday, Sept. 28, East US 30 and South Circle Drive East, Warsaw. Drivers: Roberto Montes, 19, East CR 200N, Warsaw; and Joey L. Lukkarila, 48, North Constitution Avenue, Goshen. Montes’ and Lukkarila’s vehicles collided. Damage: Up to $2,500.
