Arkansas scored 14 unanswered points, and after the Razorbacks grabbed momentum, they shocked Alabama with an onside kick that was recovered by kicker Jake Bates.

The play was reviewed and the call stood after the replay considered whether the ball went 10 yards before Bates took possession of the ball.

Arkansas, which had previously struggled in the third quarter, scored on a 13-yard run by AJ Green, to cut Alabama’s lead to 28-14.

The Razorbacks held the ball as they converted a third down when KJ Jefferson found Ketron Jackson for a 17-yard completion, and then Jefferson bowled over for another first down.

Arkansas tried to get the game back in reach after Alabama led by 3 scores at halftime despite a shoulder injury to Alabama QB Bryce Young, who left early in the second quarter.

Jefferson continued to engineer a promising drive as Arkansas used 8 plays to get inside the Alabama 5-yard line.
