If there were anybody who could have played a professional football game the same week in which he flipped his car multiple times, it would have been Cleveland Browns defensive end Myles Garrett.

Garrett had refused to rule himself out earlier in the week. His parents had warned him not to play, but he said it would ultimately come down to the medical staff’s decision.

That decision has been made, according to Adam Schefter of ESPN.

“Browns downgraded DE Myles Garrett to out for Sunday’s game against Atlanta,” Schefter wrote.

Garrett, the No. 1 overall draft pick in the 2017 NFL Draft, flipped his 2021 Porsche multiple times earlier this week, attempting to avoid a deer in Wadsworth, Ohio. Garrett suffered a sprained shoulder and bicep with minor bruises and lacerations. A passenger suffered “minor head injuries.”

The Ohio Highway Patrol cited Garret for failure to control.

Multiple media reports exposed Myles had been stopped six times for speeding in recent years. With two citations on consecutive days and two other citations for driving in speeds of excess of 100 miles per hour.

During a weekly media secession, Myles told reporters that the wreck was a “major wake-up call.”

Garrett is the Browns’ defensive player, but his unit hasn’t set the world on fire even with him on the field. On the year, Garrett has five tackles, three sacks, and a forced fumble in three games.

The Browns travel to Georgia on Sunday to face the Atlanta Falcons.
