One dead after mobile home fire in Moss Bluff

UPDATE, Oct. 3, 6:20 p.m.: Official identification and cause of death are pending with the Calcasieu Parish Coroner’s Office, however, the victim is believed to be a 58-year-old resident, according to SFM.

After an investigation, it was determined that the fire began in a bedroom on the opposite side of the home from where the victim was located.

The cause of the fire is undetermined at this time, but other residents of the home who were not there when the fire started reported having electrical issues in the home.

SFM also said that deputies were unable to confirm the presence of a working smoke alarm.

ORIGINAL, Oct. 1, 12:12 p.m.: CALCASIEU PARISH, La. (KLFY) – According to the State Fire Marshal (SFM), a woman is dead following a mobile home fire in Moss Bluff.

SFM said that Calcasieu Parish Ward 1 Fire Department responded to the fire in the 1200 block of N Perkins Ferry Rd. around 4 a.m.

Once on the scene, firefighters located a female victim and three pet dogs inside the home, according to SMF.

As the investigation is ongoing, more information will be released as it becomes available.
