Body of 2-year-old boy pulled from Big Monon Creek Friday

Police are investigating the death of a 2-year-old boy after his body was recovered from the Big Monon Creek in White County Friday afternoon, according to Indiana Conservation Officers.

Shortly before 5 p.m. Friday, White County's dispatch center received a call about an unresponsive child who had been pulled from the creek.

Attempts were made to save the boy's life on the scene.

He was transported to IU Health White Memorial Hospital, where he was pronounced dead.

An autopsy will be performed to determine a cause of death.

Other agencies that assisted include the White County Sheriff's Department, Monticello Fire Department, White County First Responders, White County Department of Child Services and White County Coroner's Office.
