Wynford's Kaiden Blair breaks open a run.

High-scoring games, upsets and stellar performances — oh my!

As we do every week, let's see who stood out in wins and losses, run down the scores from Week 7 and see if there were any surprises — spoiler: there was.

Let's see who made this week's Crawford County Football Rewind.

Best performance(s)

Two players stood out above the rest this week and led their teams to victory.

Galion's Braxton Prosser had himself a career night at a time the Tigers needed him most. The sophomore quarterback totaled five touchdowns (one receiving) and 313 yards of offense — 178 through the air, 134 on the ground — and led the final five scores to keep up with Ontario in a 46-36 shootout. His decision-making on throws and ability to make plays happen out of nothing with his legs was remarkable in Week 7.

Wynford's Kaiden Blair had the type of breakout performance the Royals have been waiting for this season, toting the ball 16 times for 91 yards and three touchdowns in the team's 35-15 win over Buckeye Central, their second consecutive victory after starting 0-5. The Royals dominated possession 30:33 to 17:27 and picked up 14 of their 22 first downs on the ground.

Other notable performances:

∙ Buckeye Central's Derex Dean was 26-of-40 passing for 230 yards and two touchdowns — the Bucks had 215 yards as a team for the game.

∙ Bucyrus' Malachi Bayless passed for 278 yards, completing 20-of-40 attempts, with two touchdowns — both to Randy Banks, who caught eight passes for 148 yards. Joe Rager also hauled in seven for 92 yards.

∙ Colonel Crawford's Matt Clinard carried the ball 18 times for 119 yards along with catching two passes for 39 yards and a touchdown. Trevor Vogt and Derek Horsley each had a fumble recovery.

∙ Galion's Gabe Ivy rushed 23 times for 119 yards and a touchdown while also catching one pass for a 48-yard score. Elijah Chafin also caught seven passes for 132 yards and two touchdowns, and Houston Frank and Landon Campbell each had a fumble recovery.

∙ Wynford's Anthony Evans led the team in rushing with 108 yards on 19 carries and Ashton Warren passed for 167 yards and a touchdown, completing 56.3% of his attempts.

Galion's Braxton Prosser is tackled by Ontario's Grason Bias.

Surprises

There may not have been a bigger surprise in the state than what unfolded at H.J. Gary Field Friday night. Coming off a tough loss to fellow state-ranked Carey in Week 6, it seemed like Colonel Crawford was in a smash spot against an abysmal Upper Sandusky defense in front of the home crowd. The Rams haven't had a winning season since 2013 and have only finished at, or above, .500 seven times since 1999.

But history didn't matter and Upper Sandusky came in fearless, forcing three Colonel Crawford fumbles, stopped the Eagles twice on fourth down and bet the house on a player with just seven receptions entering the week in overtime for arguably the biggest win in program history. In overtime, having just watched Kam Lohr break off a 20-yard run for the score followed by a Braxton Morton PAT, Upper's Kaden Holman hit Evan Hill on a 5-yard strike to pull within one.

But tying wasn't good enough — the Rams were going for the win. And that's what they did as Holman hit senior tight end Brady Hart for two points to cap a monumental 30-29 upset over the No. 10 team in the state.
