SYRACUSE, N.Y. - The remnants of Hurricane Ian will be a close call for CNY as Ian moves slowly inland and northward.
Here's a look at the path that Hurricane Ian took over the past week. (See PHOTO GALLERY)
Saturday morning, the center of the remnants of Hurricane Ian sit over North Carolina and spread all the way up to the New England area. This system was at 1001mb with wind speeds at 35mph and gusts up to 45mph, but it is weakening.
CNY will miss the bullet from this post-tropical system. We will stay on the edge of this system as it gets swept east and out to sea over the next couple days.
Here's the weather system setup this Saturday morning. The remnants of Hurricane Ian sits over North Carolina heading slowly north at about 10mph.
A large area of high pressure will drop down from Central Canada and move over the Northeast. This will also shove the remnants of Ian to the east and out to sea.
This is because high pressure rotates clockwise, which means the wind is blowing south on the east side of this system, keeping the remnants of Ian south of CNY. (See PHOTO GALLERY for the FUTURECAST)
This area of high pressure will bring us drier weather for Sunday, then a sunny stretch from Monday through Wednesday.
