What good old days are writers is dreaming of?

Re “It’s hard to recognize our country anymore” (Sept. 27): This letter writer bemoans the fact that he no longer recognizes our country because his 401(k) is down and he has to pay more for gas and groceries. He blames the current administration for inflation and rising fuel prices even though that is happening worldwide. He seems to think that America was a utopia less than two years ago.

Did he forget about the pandemic that basically shut down of our whole country? I remember waiting in line outside of grocery stores in a mask hoping that I would be able to find toilet paper. Are those the good old days this writer is dreaming of?

He is correct in saying that an election is coming up, and if you want the government to dictate women’s health care choices, force rape victims to have babies, deny climate change and possibly overturn future elections then vote Republican.
