This October, the Sanderson Sisters from “Hocus Pocus” and the newly released sequel “Hocus Pocus 2″ invite guests to book a one-of-a-kind recreation of the witches’ “creaky old cottage” in Danvers.
This “once-in-a-lifetime” stay in a remote wooded area of the town is meant to recreate the Sanderson’s residence “as though it’s been frozen in time for 300 years,” according to Airbnb, which is putting on the promotion.
Airbnb’s promotional stay not only coincides with the frightful fun of the month of October and the Halloween season but also the return of the Sanderson Sisters — played by Bette Midler, Kathy Najimy and Sarah Jessica Parker — in “Hocus Pocus 2,″ now streaming on Disney+.
“We all know that the Sanderson Sisters’ story might not have ended when we turned to dust, nor did our shenanigans,” said Kathy Najimy in a statement via Airbnb. “What better way to celebrate the season than to host guests at the trio’s historic haunt for a night they’ll remember for years to come?”
The stay is meant for two guests on Thursday, Oct. 20 for only $31 a night as a celebration of All Hallows’ Eve.
Airbnb said that guests are welcomed to “try their hand at enchantments enshrined in the ancient spellbook that guided the sisters in all their mischief,” peruse the stay’s cupboards, “explore the cottage’s dark corners,” and view a special screening of “Hocus Pocus 2.”
Guests are also advised to explore the history and culture of Salem. MassLive has a guide for some of the best activities to take part in this Halloween season in the North Shore city.
Airbnb noted that guests are responsible for their own travel to and from Danvers “by broomstick or otherwise.” Those booking the stay must also be aware that it requires “strict adherence with applicable COVID-19 rules and guidelines.”
Those looking to book the stay can request to do so starting on Wednesday, Oct. 12 at 1 p.m. ET on Airbnb’s devoted webpage to the Sanderson Sisters stay.
The cottage is privately owned and operated, according to Airbnb, with taxes and fees also applying to the $31 overnight fee. The one-night stay is also not a contest, Airbnb stated.
The accommodations platform added it is “closely monitoring” the Danvers COVID-19 infection rates and government policies and will offer guests a refund of the booking fee and $1,000 in Airbnb travel credit if it determines a cancellation to the stay is necessary.
