The parent company of Shoppers Food has reacquired a store in Northeast Baltimore that had previously been sold and reopened the location Friday.
United Natural Foods announced the acquisition of the former Shoppers store at 5600 The Alameda along with the re-acquisition and remodeling of several stores in Prince George’s County.
The moves are part of a commitment to build the Shoppers banner in Baltimore and Prince George’s, the parent company said.
Another re-acquired Shoppers site, in Capitol Heights, also opened Friday, while a former Shoppers in Landover will re-open in November.
“Shoppers has a long-standing relationship with these communities, and we are excited to return to these neighborhoods,’ said Jeff Bleichner, vice president and general manager at Shoppers.
Shoppers parent company also is remodeling two stores in Forestville in Prince George’s County.
Shoppers runs full-service supermarkets in Maryland, Washington and Northern Virginia.
