The Pella football team had flashes of brilliance but could not sustain it to the end zone as they were shut out by Cedar Rapids Xavier 47-0, as heard live on 92.1 KRLS Friday.

Pella was able to get deep into Saints’ territory on three occasions in the first half, but a fumble, turnover on downs, and interception turned into three Xavier scores. The No. 1 in 4A Saints scored on their first five possessions and converted on 11-of-13 3rd down tries as they marched on the Dutch defense all evening.

Kenson Fuller had 120 yards on the ground for Pella. The Dutch fall to 0-6 overall and will try to find a first win at Oskaloosa next Friday.
