Amparo (Escobar) Buritica, 85, of Lexington, South Carolina, formerly of Salem, died at 7:52 p.m. on Sunday, March 17, 2019, at her home with family surrounding her.

She was Born on October 1, 1933, in Colombia, South America, the daughter of Antonio Escobar and Maria (Velez) Escobar.

She was a homemaker, Catholic by faith, liked to cook traditional meals and loved spending time with her husband and the family.

She moved to Salem from South America in 1973, then to South Carolina.

She is survived by her husband, Jorge Buritica, whom she married on August 18, 1952; her children, George M. (wife, Yoneko) Buritica of Los Angeles, California, Maria T. (husband, Mike) Moore of Salem, Ohio, Gloria C. (husband, Karl) Jenkinson of Columbia, South Carolina; three grandchildren, two great-grandchildren and two sisters in South America.

Amparo was preceded by her parents; two sisters and two brothers.

The family has chosen to not have any services at this time.
