School districts will begin planning their next fiscal year budgets soon as the certified enrollment deadline hits officially today and as reports for the last 12 months are approved.

Pella Superintendent Greg Ebeling says the board approved 2021-22 Certified Annual Report for submission to the Iowa Department of Education at their meeting this week.

The two documents approved include the balance sheet from July 1st, 2021 to June 30th, 2022, and the treasurer’s report of high level revenue/expenditures for the previous year.

Overall, the district brought in $27.84 million in revenue and had a total of $28.69 million in expenditures in the general fund — which was attributed to a drop in state funding due to enrollment decline from the first year back post-COVID.
