What drama was this?

Hello - if anyone can help me out with this I'd be well impressed!

I have a memory of a drama from a good 15 - 20 years ago - possibly on the BBC, maybe not - and for the life of me I can't remember what it was called. It's set in London, I think.

Normally in these situations I can recall at least one actor that was in it so I'd Google their past career and normally I'd eventually recognise the programme I'm searching for. But for this I'm drawing a blank.

One thing I do remember is that there's a young boy in it (maybe 11 or 12?) who for whatever reason finds himself in a gang situation where he's been told to stab another boy (presumably as an initiation thing?). I think that scene comes at the very end of the drama (I think it was in a few parts) and I'm sure that Faure's Requiem: In Paradisum was playing during that closing scene. Or something equally beautiful.

I have a recollection of another scene, at the beginning of the drama of a teenage, possibly mixed race girl of about 15. She's wearing headphones and drops some litter and is harangued by someone but doesn't hear them initially because of the headphones. Admittedly that could be a completely different drama though, and I've just stuck those two scenes together in my head.

Does this ring a bell with anyone or have I completely dreamt the whole thing? I'm all 'Googled out' at this stage.

The scene about the litter dropping was the clue to how I remember this.

It was called 'One Night' and was a 4part series on BBC1 (think it aired over 4 consecutive nights) in 2012.

One of those dramas where the characters' lives are linked by random events. Yes, it was set in London and I remember Douglas Hodge as the man who harangued the litter-dropper.

From what I can recall it was a good watch.

I would not have remembered it without Cheekyjon2's help. I am surprised it was ten years ago; time flies. I see I made a comment on the original thread.

Oh my god - thank you so much! This has been bugging me for literally years, lol. I had a vague memory of an actor called Douglas in it so I was Googling Douglas Henshall, not Douglas Hodge.

    I am impressed!

I actually have access to a resource called Box of Broadcasts so I'll watch it on that - now that I know what it's called.

That’s Georgina Campbell who went on to win a best actress BAFTA for Murdered by my Boyfriend.
