Hurricane Ian will be felt in NY: How much rain and wind is coming this weekend

Hurricane Ian ripped through Florida as a Category 4 storm Wednesday and regained hurricane strength as it hit South Carolina Friday. It has been downgraded to a post-tropical cyclone but the Hudson Valley could still get soaked with a rainstorm this weekend.

The remnants of the hurricane are moving north. Most of the region is in a marginal risk for hazardous weather, according to the National Weather Service. New York City and Long Island have a slight risk of excessive rainfall on Saturday.

High temperatures will be in the mid to upper 50s through Tuesday. Saturday will have the heaviest rainfall and winds could gust more than 20 mph. There will be less rain but potentially stronger winds on Sunday. Monday and Tuesday have a chance of rain before the sun comes out Wednesday and Thursday with highs in the upper 60s to low 70s.

The mid-Atlantic coast could receive strong winds, beach erosion and coastal flooding. If Ian slows it could produce additional rainfall.
