NEW ORLEANS (WGNO) — Traffic on the interstate was shut down on Friday evening as the New Orleans Police Department investigated a homicide. According to the NOPD, 73-year-old William Manns was shot and killed while driving.

Just before 8 p.m., officers were called to a report of shots fired near Interstate 10 East near the Norman C. Francis Parkway overpass. When they arrived at the location, a vehicle was found with several bullet holes in it on the shoulder of the bridge.

According to the NOPD, a 73-year-old man was found suffering from multiple gunshot wounds inside the vehicle. He was pronounced dead on the scene.
