Eagles' Darius Slay divulges his secret to shutting down Vikings' wideout Justin Jefferson

Minnesota Vikings Pro Bowl wide receiver Justin Jefferson couldn't have started the 2022 campaign off better, posting nine catches for 184 yards and two touchdowns against the Green Bay Packers.

However, Jefferson hasn't been the same since matching up against Philadelphia Eagles All-Pro cornerback Darius Slay in a 24-7 loss in Week 2. Slay helped the Eagles keep Jefferson under wraps, holding the 23-year-old to six catches for 48 yards.

Furthermore, Vikings' quarterback Kirk Cousins completed only 2-of-9 passes targeting receivers guarded by Slay.

Appearing on the "All Things Covered" podcast, Slay explained how he was able to shut down the Vikings' stud receiver.

"I've played this game so long I know what you're gonna do," Slay said. "I know your tendencies. I know what you like the most."

Slay said he put in the work, studying Jefferson to find out the best ways to attack him.

"He had a lot of tales for me to steal on film," Slay continued. "Young guys don't see, but I see that because I like to watch film a lot."

Slay called Jefferson "smooth" and a "talented dude" but added, "when I know you, it's kind of over with."

Jefferson's tough Week 2 against Slay seemingly bled into last week's contest against the Detroit Lions. The Vikings' number one target finished with just three catches for a career-low 14 yards.

Meanwhile, Slay continued his strong season in Philly's 24-8 win over the Washington Commanders last Sunday, allowing only two completions for 18 yards.

On the year, Slay has allowed just seven completions for 105 yards.
