Dave Gonzales made his Eyewitness News debut in 2015.
But his journey did not start here.
He began telling the stories of the community in Salt Lake City, working in radio before making the transition to television.
His nearly 40-year career took him to San Diego, Fresno and Salinas-Monterey.
Little did he know the five years he spent there would put him on a path to Kern County.
While there, he anchored the evening newscast, giving viewers their nightly news, including the tragic Loma Prieta earthquake in 1989.
From there, he went to Los Angeles, where he spent the bulk of his career, gaining the trust of the community.
Good stories or bad, he was there to break the news.
When our world was uncertain, Dave was there in his calm voice delivering the important facts.
He's won numerous Emmy, Golden Mike, and Sigma Delta Chi awards during the time he dedicated to the news industry.
But for Dave, it's not about the accolades, he just enjoys telling other people's stories.
For the past seven years, Dave has been a mentor and critical eye for young journalist that have cycled through Eyewitness News.
The knowledge and experience he brings to our newsroom will be greatly missed.
Thank you, Dave.
