Shelby Valley overwhelms Prestonsburg 68-21 in Appalachian Wireless Game of the Week

PRESTONSBURG, Ky. (WYMT) - It was a big clash on the gridiron in Prestonsburg as the Black Cats welcomed in the Shelby Valley Wildcats and this match up did not disappoint.

Early on, the teams traded leads, with Prestonsburg getting the scoring started after the strip sack of Valley QB Russ Osborne. On 4th and 1, Black Cats go for it, only needed one yard but Ethan Jarvis grabbed 29 more for a 30-yard touchdown run to make the score 7-0 Prestonsburg.

On Shelby Valley’s next possession, the Wildcats methodically worked the ball down the field, setting up a Jayden Newsome touchdown scamper to tie the score at 7.

Next up for Prestonsburg, the handoff to Ethan Jarvis, who takes it 87-yards to the house for a Black Cat score to re-take the advantage at home 14-7.

Shelby Valley again responds with another big drive, capped off by a Russ Osborne touchdown run to tie it back up.

And that was just the first quarter!

Plenty of penalty flags to start off the second quarter, but something had to give eventually, Shelby Valley would find their groove late in the second quarter. Russ Osborne hands off to John Fields with plenty of field in front of him. 46 yards to the house to make it 21-14 Shelby Valley.

Perhaps the play of the night as the pocket collapsed, sending Osborne scrambling at the end of the half, he would heave a ball up to a jumping Jesse Cook whose reception made it a three touchdown lead for Valley

Shelby Valley opening up the second half with the ball. 4 plays and 84 yards later, it was another touchdown. Shelby Valley then attempted and recovered an onside kick, which resulted in an easy TD. 35 consecutive points for Shelby Valley at that point.

One touchdown late from Prestonsburg eased the bleeding a little but Shelby Valley emerges victorious 68-21.
