Person of interest arrested in Ohio for ‘possible homicide’ in Mason, WV

UPDATE (10:44 a.m. on Saturday, Oct. 1): The Mason Police Department says the suspect in this investigation was arrested in Meigs County, Ohio for a homicide that happened there on Friday.

They say this investigation is from a deceased individual in the area of Front Street in Mason. The Mason Police Department, the Mason County Sheriff’s Department and the West Virginia State Police all responded to the scene.

No additional information is being released at this time.

In a Facebook post, they say this, “is an active alleged homicide investigation, and do not believe at this time that there is any reason for the public to be alarmed.”

A murder investigation is also underway just around 10 minutes away in Pomeroy in Meigs County, Ohio.


MASON, WV (WOWK) – Authorities are investigating the scene of a possible homicide in Mason, West Virginia.

According to the Mason Police Department, the scene is located near the intersection of Front Street and Horton Street in Mason.

The MPD is leading the investigation with assistance from the Mason County Sheriff’s Office and the West Virginia State Police. MPD says no further information is being released at this time.
