Texas Department of Public Safety officials said a 42-year-old Dell City man died Thursday night when he was struck by a pickup truck as he walked on State Highway 114 west of Lubbock.

Brin Lee Adams was pronounced dead on Texas 114 about 0.4 of a mile east of County Road 6700, according to a DPS news release.

Troopers responded to the scene about 10 p.m., the release states.

The crash shut down the state highway between the Hockley County line and Reese Boulevard, and the Lubbock County Sheriff's Office and the Lubbock Police Department helped divert traffic as troopers investigated the crash.

According to Lubbock Sheriff's Office officials, Adams was walking eastbound on 114 away from his motorcycle when he was struck by a pickup truck.

Troopers believe a westbound 2013 Chevrolet Silverado pickup truck merged to the left lane of the highway when it struck Adams.

The driver of the pickup truck, a 16-year-old boy, was uninjured, according to the DPS news release, which did not indicate that any arrests were made.
