Three arrests made in deadly Tangi home invasion robbery; TPSO sheds more on investigation
More arrests and new developments unfold in a Hammond home invasion robbery.
On Sept. 12, Tangipahoa Parish Sheriff's deputies responded to a call of three masked men entering a home on Rufus Bankston Road in Hammond.
Donte Perry, 33, was killed and his 12-year-old daughter was shot multiple times.
According to chief Jimmy Travis, the three men were searching for drugs and money.
Three men now face charges of first-degree murder, attempted first-degree murder, armed robbery and aggravated kidnapping.
Omarion Hookfin, 18, was arrested on Tuesday.
Avery Guidry, 18, and Tra'von Johnson, 19, were arrested Thursday.
Hookfin was an acquaintance of Perry who sometimes stayed across the street, according to Travis.
"That's how Hookfin was able to get Perry to open his door where he entered with two masked suspects who ended up being Johnson and Guidry," Travis said.
Travis confirmed the three men fled the scene, making off with the money but dropped narcotics not too far from the home.
He says Hookfin attempted to kill Perry's children.
"Omarion Hookfin executed Donte Perry then realized the 12- year-old girl could identify him and shot her multiple times," Travis said. "Then he turned the gun on the 7-year-old son and placed the gun to his head where it misfired."
Travis confirmed the 12- year-old is recovering and says one of the bullets hit her in the head but did not hit her skull.
"When you have people that has complete disregard for human life including the life of children.... those people don't belong in society," Travis said.
According to Travis, TPSO is still building this case, he says if it is strong enough, the district attorney might be able to push for the death sentence.
