A man convicted of killing a Larchmont police officer 46 years ago is set to be released from prison next month.

Officer Arthur Dematte was fatally shot while trying to remove someone from the New Haven railroad tracks.

Anthony Blanks was able to gain control of Officer DeMatte's service weapon and shot him.

Blanks was convicted of first-degree murder and sentenced to 25 years to life for the killing.

He was granted parole earlier this month.

DeMatte, a 20-year veteran, left behind a wife and four children.
