Salem police seek vehicle involved in hit-and-run that killed a woman

Salem police is asking for public's help finding two suspects involved in hit-and-run crash that killed a woman on Wednesday. The vehicle is a dark blue 1998 pickup.

PORTLAND, Ore. — Salem Police Traffic Team is asking for the public's help finding the two suspects involved in a hit-and-run crash that killed a woman on Wednesday.

Saturday morning police identified the involved vehicle as follows:

  • Dark blue, 1998, Chevy 1500 pickup truck with an extended cab
  • Damage to the driver side headlight
  • Oregon license plate 604 FWD

Anyone with information on the truck's whereabouts is asked to call the Salem Police Department at 503-588-6123 and refer to case number 22-2177.

On Wednesday officers responded to a pedestrian-involved crash in the 4000 block of Sunnyview Road just after 5 a.m.

Upon arrival officers found the pedestrian lying on the road with life-threatening injuries.

The victim, Cynthia Lynn Perry Rizzo, 66, from Keizer was found lying on the road and suffered life-threatening injuries. She was transported to Salem Health, where she died on Thursday. 

The driver involved fled the scene headed eastbound on Sunnyview Road from Lancaster Drive. 

This is one of two separate deadly hit-and-run crashes within a span of a few days in Salem and Portland.

Man dies in hit-and-run crash in Northeast Portland

A man was killed late Thursday night in a hit-and-run crash in Northeast Portland, according to Portland police. 

Officers responded to a pedestrian-involved crash in the 4000 block of Northeast 122nd Avenue around 11:48 p.m. 

When officers and paramedics arrived they found the pedestrian who was identified as an adult male. He was dead upon arrival. His identity will later be confirmed once released to the public.

The driver involved fled the scene. Officers were unable to locate the driver. No information in regards to the vehicle or suspect is being released at this time. 

This is an ongoing investigation and is the 45th traffic fatality this year alone in Portland, according to police. 

Officers are asking for the public’s help in locating the driver who fled the scene. They ask that you contact them if you saw anything or have security footage that might help investigators.
