Moniteau County man injured in Cole County crash

JEFFERSON CITY, Mo. (KMIZ)

A California, Missouri, man sustained serious injuries following a Friday morning crash in Jefferson City.

The collision occurred in the eastbound lanes in the 3800 block of Highway 50, according to the Jefferson City Police Department.

Stephen Vaught was driving a 2008 Nissan in the passing lane, began to drift off the road to the left and into the grass median, overcorrected and collided with a 2017 Dodge Ram driven by Nicolas Schulte in the right lane.

Vaught suffered serious injuries to his legs and was taken to University Hospital in Columbia by ambulance. Schulte was not injured.

Traffic was restricted for about 40 minutes, police said.
