Court records said a woman in Logan County faces charges after she allegedly conspired with an inmate to facilitate a “hit” on another inmate at the Southwestern Regional Jail.
Heather Nicole Stapleton, 37, is charged with solicitation to commit murder and conspiracy to commit murder, according to a criminal complaint filed in Logan County Magistrate Court.
The complaint said on Sept. 13 Marc West, an inmate at Southwestern Regional Jail, was in contact with Stapleton over a recorded audio and video call. Stapleton was not an inmate at the time.
During multiple calls, West and Stapleton conspired to facilitate a “hit” that could possibly result in the death of Cameron Farmer, who also was an inmate at Southwestern Regional Jail, the complaint said.
Court records said Stapleton took orders from West to contact other inmates who were located in another pod to relay the message of the “hit” on the victim. The complaint said Stapleton did contact an inmate to relay the message.
Stapleton is currently being held at Southwestern Regional Jail on a $100,000 bond.
West Virginia State Police is the investigating agency.
