KCRA Weekend Roundup: Things to do in the Sacramento region for Sept. 30 - Oct. 2
From the return of the Capital Airshow and NASCAR to corn mazes, pumpkin contests and events to raise awareness for important issues, there’s a lot to do this weekend in Northern California.
Here is a look at what’s happening and interviews with organizers for some of these activities.
California Capital Air Show
If you live anywhere in Sacramento County, you may be able to catch some of the flyovers for the Capital Air Show. But you can catch a closer look at Mather Airport in Rancho Cordova. A drive-in airshow on Friday kicks things off with opening ceremonies starting at 3:30 p.m. The event continues through Sunday and tickets are available online. Learn more here.
Laci Peterson Corn Maze
A Modesto farm is dedicating its corn maze this year to Laci Peterson. This December marks 20 years since Laci and her unborn son, Conner, were killed. Dutch Hollow Farms said they got permission from Laci’s mom to dedicate the maze to her memory. The farm also has a pumpkin patch and petting zoon. Learn more here.
Brewfest at the Ballpark
The 15th annual Brewfest at the Ballpark takes place Friday night at Sutter Health Park starting at 6:30 p.m for general admission. Nearly 40 breweries are participating in the event. There will also be food trucks and live music. Learn more here.
Roaring '20s Jubilee
The Roaring '20s Jubilee takes place at Old Sacramento starting Friday through Sunday. It features jazz, ragtime and banjo music. Learn more here.
Giant Pumpkin Festival
The free Elk Grove Giant Pumpkin Festival takes place on Saturday and Sunday at Elk Grove Park. The event features carnival rides, arts and crafts, vendors and more. Learn more here.
Lambtown Festival
The 36th annual Lambtown Festival takes place Saturday and Sunday. The celebration of all things sheep and wool takes place at the Dixon May Fairgrounds. Learn more here.
Hungarian Picnic
The Hungarian Association of the Sacramento area is holding its annual picnic event at Hagan Community Park in Rancho Cordova on Saturday afternoon. It features food, music and performances. Learn more here.
Suisun Waterfront Festival
The Suisun Waterfront Festival in Suisun City takes place Saturday and features art, wine and live music. Learn more here.
Kid Rock Concert
Kid Rock performs at the Toyota Amphitheater in Wheatland with Grand Funk Railroad. Learn more here.
Steve Miller Band and Sammy Hagar
The Steve Miller Band performs at Thunder Valley Casino’s amphitheater in Lincon on Friday. Sammy Hagar and his supergroup The Circle perform on Saturday. Learn more here.
Lungapalooza
The Sacramento Lung Health Coalition’s first-ever Lungapalooza takes place on Saturday at Esther’s Park in Sacramento. There will be a free BBQ box lunch along with food, music and fitness sessions. Learn more here.
Out of the Darkness Walk
Communities across the country are walking in support of those who have died by and been impacted by suicide. The Sacramento walk takes place Saturday at the Capitol. Learn more here.
Lodi Comic Con
Lodi Comic Con takes place at the Lodi Grape Festival Grounds on Sunday. Learn more here.
Serbian Food and Culture Festival
The annual Serbian Food and Culture Festival takes place in Fair Oaks on Saturday. It features food, live music, traditional Serbian kolo dancing and more. Learn more here.
Urban Cow Events
The 18th annual Urban Cow is a set of races in Sacramento on Saturday and Sunday. There’s a 5K, kids’ races, and a half marathon. Learn more here.
Sacramento Archives Crawl
The Sacramento Archives Crawl is an event on Saturday where the city’s four biggest archive repositories show off their items. It’s held at the California State Archives, California State Library, Center for Sacramento History and Sacramento room at the Sacramento Public Library. Learn more here.

The NASCAR ARCA Menards Series West takes place in Roseville on Saturday. Gates to the All American Speedway open at 4 p.m. Learn more here.
Sacramento County Relay for Life
For 24 hours, teams will be walking at Sutter Middle School in Folsom to celebrate cancer survivors, caregivers and honor those who have lost their lives to cancer.
The event started at 9 a.m. on Saturday and goes till 9 a.m. on Sunday. Learn more here.
