More than 2 million people were left without power as of Friday after the hurricane slammed into the state.
Spokesperson Kelly Young said the destruction is widespread.
“This is not just a crew goin down there and putting backup poles and taking trees off lines. This is complete devastation in some areas,” Young said.
Young said it’s important to restore power as quickly as possible.
“People rely on it for not only air conditioning and food, but there's also the hospitals and the schools and the large companies. So, this is a huge impact down in Florida, and we're just proud and honored that our crews were picked up for mutual aid to be able to assist,” Young said.
Crews with Duke Energy and Indiana Michigan and Power are also in Florida assisting with restoration efforts.
