TULARE, Calif. (FOX26) — An elementary student is facing serious charges after it was learned they brought a weapon to school.
School administrators learned about the incident on Thursday, the day after the child brought the gun onto the Alpine Vista School campus.

Administrators called the Tulare Police Department as soon as they received the information.
Tulare police and the Tulare City School District launched an investigation and determined that the child had brought the gun to school on a previous day to show friends.
There was no indication that the child had any ill intentions by bringing the gun to school.
Along with the child's parents' cooperation, officers were able to locate and seize the weapon from the residence in Tulare.
The Tulare Police Department will be forwarding this case to the Tulare County District Attorney's Office for review of appropriate charges.
