Kelly Ripa stopped by the Clubhouse to dish to Andy Cohen about her new book, Live Wire: Long-Winded Short Stories. During Thursday night’s (Sept. 29) episode of Watch What Happens LiveRipa opened up about who she would pick to co-host Live if Ryan Seacrest hadn’t gotten the job five years ago.

The talk show host pointed out that the decision “has so little” to do with her, but said she would pick Anderson Cooper or Cohen.

“I love my ACs, of course, but they have jobs,” she said before Cohen asked if she would’ve done it with her husband, Mark Consuelos, who has guest-hosted on numerous occasions.

“My MC I love. But he had a job, too, at the time. At the time, he was working in California and then Vancouver,” she noted, referring to his role on Riverdale.

But who would Ripa have really wanted to co-host the show with? She says she “would’ve had a woman in a heartbeat,” adding, “I’ve always found the idea of two women hosting a show appealing. That way they can share the blame.”

The duo also covered a variety of topics Ripa wrote about in her book, including her tumultuous early days on Live and her claim that Consuelos should teach a class in lovemaking. She even admitted to doing the deed with her husband at Cohen’s Fire Island house.

Live began in the late 1980s with Regis Philbin and Kathie Lee Gifford before Ripa took over for Gifford in 2001. Following Philbin’s departure in 2011, Ripa hosted alongside Michael Strahan from 2012 to 2016 before he left the show and Seacrest filled his spot in 2017.

Watch What Happens Live airs Sunday through Thursday at 10/9c on Bravo. Plus, you can keep up with Ripa on weekdays at 9 a.m. ET when Live with Kelly and Ryan airs on ABC.
