Rebekah, Matthew and Kale Newman are sheltering at Disney World as Ian rips through, demolishing everything in its wake.
"We knew it was pretty serious when the parks shut down because that doesn't happen very often," Rebekah Newman said.
The Newmans flew down to the Most Magical Place on Earth to celebrate Kale's big day. Now, they can't leave.
"We're celebrating his double digits. He turned 10 in Sept. 26," Rebekah Newman said. "So, we came down here for his birthday, and we got three awesome parks days before Hurricane Ian came in."
Since Wednesday night, the three have had to shelter in place at their resort as the powerful winds and rain came in.
"The wind was crazy," Rebekah Newman said.
The Midwest City family is trying to make the best of it, buying puzzles and games to keep themselves entertained while they're on an unexpected extended vacation.

"Our flight was canceled. We were supposed to fly out tomorrow, and it was canceled," Rebekah Newman said. "So, now we're hopefully flying out Sunday morning. There's no better place for me to be trapped than Disney World."
While it wasn't the birthday Kale had imagined, it will go down as the most unforgettable.
"Definitely a 10th birthday that I'm sure he will never forget," Rebekah Newman said.
The Newmans said Disney World has been more than accommodating, handing out flashlights and providing frequent updates.
